Description

My first three imaging sessions with the NYX-101 and EdgeHD 11 combo resulted in the scope crashing down to the pier right as the mount started to slew. Not even restricting slews to under 3° per second like PegasusAstro recommends with a heavy scope was able to keep the scope from crashing down to the pier just as a slew would start.  I concluded the EdgeHD 11 was just too much weight for the NYX-101 to safely handle without a counterweight, so I added a counterweight bar and a 10 lb. counterweight.  This was my first imaging session using the counterweight and it worked perfectly and I haven't any issues with the scope crashing since I added it. This was also my first true solo attempt at Jupiter that I just finally got around to processing.  I had two prior imaging sessions on Jupiter, but those were with a lot of assistance from my son, who is highly experienced at planetary imaging.  While I still see areas I can improve, for average seeing, I'm happy with the final result.
